Shh! It's a secret

Misteri - Santa's secret is also another one of the new releases this Sunday at http://www.digistamps4joy.co.za/eshop/ (for blog to inspire you check this link - http://digistamps4joy-sa.blogspot.com/ )

The frame is Memory box Frostyville 98718. And I also used the Large Debutante Frame.
The Poinsettia is from Anna Griffin Winter Wonderland cut at 3.5
The Pattern Papers are from - Mr.Frosty Imagine cartridge. Yep I broke out my Imagine for this too but only for the background paper. The border is from MS punch.
Of course used color box chalk ink to  chalk edges and also used distress ink antique ink to antique it up a bit

Secret Ingredient:

Baking set by Margy is  one of the new releases this Sunday at http://www.digistamps4joy.co.za/eshop/ (for blog to inspire you check this link - http://digistamps4joy-sa.blogspot.com/ )

I did break out my Imagine for this. I updated it. It still cuts offset at left edges and at the bottom. So I found a way around. I cut only top half of the mat.. I don't waste the paper as I flip it around and use it for next step. I do take care not to exceed the cut area. If I do want bigger then I have except I set the bleed way over. Of course used color box chalk ink to ink edges
The imagine cartridge for pattern paper, background paper and the images is Kate's Kitchen
The doily and the top of the mat for image is from Cheery Lynn doily DL231.
I used the angel wing for the mat top half and doily itself for the doily.

Misteri - The Artist

Misteri - The Artist is one of the release at http://www.digistamps4joy.co.za/eshop/ (for blog to inspire you check this link - http://digistamps4joy-sa.blogspot.com/ )

Made a card colored with copics and yeah broke out my sewing machine. Love this stitch.

Yep I hand drew that palette. Wish I had drawn it on Illustrator though.
Thought of splashing some paint on her dress but then decided to leave her neat. She wears an apron while painting.. So oppsite to me. I am a messy painter!
Loved making that flower and isn't that flourish so perfect for the flower.
Flower - Ek punch (large, medium and small)

SACIRC1 - Brother circular attachment

I wanted to get the brother circle attachment for some time now.

But problem the machines that this part is listed for are just a few the Innov and QC
And asking sewing shops and even brother was no help at all! Brother only could say if you tell your machine name that it does not fit. Well that was no help to me. Tried asking in Amazon but  no help there too.

So did some research and watched videos . So here goes. (BTW this will not fit embroidery only machine like pe700 as it does not have decorative stitches)
Check your needle plate if there is a screw hole placed in lower right bottom of it then YES it will most probably fit. The area space where the  feed dogs go is pretty big so that won't be a problem. There are 2 more holes where the prongs go and most of the new machines the computer ones will have these.

But pictures speak more than words so let me give you an eg of  3 different machines - needle plate
First is se400 or the one from costco LB-6800. And YES - SACIRC1 will fit in both

(the photo of needle plate of from http://www.sewingpartsonline.com . I photoshopped and added rest of the details). well now you know where you can go to get spare parts for your machine :)

And now for machines the new ones like XR1300, XR1355 (both available at costco) and also HC 1850.
These too have the hole in bottom right corner where the screw goes and the 2 holes for the prongs of the attachment. SO YEAH the attachment will fit. And yes I tried in mine. I ordered mine from here - http://www.sewvacdirect.com/brother-circular-sewing-attatchment-bundle/.
As you can guess I sent emails here, to ken sewing and to all brands (these were the only places I found where the attachment has a decent price. While others replied and said ask brother and it might not fit-  Alan Barczynski of sewvacdirect was the only one who said that even though he does not know that I could always
try and if it does not fit return it back.
Ok now let's see the needle plate in these machines

Now the last of the machines. I had xr7700 before I had to return that as it kept giving me error and the feed dogs fed the cloth at an angle like when you drive a car and take your hands off and it veers to one side. Well that's what was happening to mine. Loved that machine but. And more reason to get it from costco as they really care for their customers.
Now this is a machine which does not have the screw in the bottom right. BUT that's no big deal if you are willing to just tape the right corner. The screw on this attachment is small and just in one place so it will be no biggie to tape it. and try as long as you don't pull at it hard.
Well of course the easiest is avoid getting the attachment altogether and just use a thumb tack :) and save your dollars. But this is convenient and it comes with additional goodies and 2 extra feet - cording and braiding.
Here's the needle plate for this machine

So here are some photos I took (at night so sorry for the light). Click on the photo to make it larger. The photo below was taken after removing the feet and from the back
(so the screw hole is seen on the top left from this view)

The attachment turned to the back so you can see the prong and the hole where the screw goes (thats's the tiny one on top right)

The tiny screw

I have added the screw . see how smal it protrudes? That's what is holding the whole attachment with the prongs too. So that's why if you don't have a place to screw it but you have the holes for the prongs then you can tape and still use this.

Still looking from the back as that's how you can get the unhindered look . I have placed the attachment on the machine. You can see where the screw and the prongs go in hopefully

View from front left

Wow wasn't that detailed. Hopefully that answers some questions and will help someone in their research lol.

Time Flies.... (even when you're a little out of your comfort zone!)

Hi Everyone

Michelle here from Lady of Leisure Ink - thanks so much Pam for letting me be here.  Today I have one of my very favorite cards, that I actually made sometime ago - it's a Steampunk.  I know I am a little 'late to the game' but I really love Steampunk - took me a while to get used to as it is a little 'out of my comfort zone', but it is so much fun.

The image I have used is from Aurella Art check out her store, she has some of the most beautiful images. This one is called 'Steampunk Telsa' - I found her quite a challenge to colour (this was my third attempt!)

The image is coloured with ProMarkers, the background paper is from 7Gypsies and the wings and sentiment are made using my Cameo.

Of course I had to finish this one off with an envelope.

Thanks Pam for having me.  I hope I have inspired you to take a step outside your comfort zone - you may be surprised at what you find.

Challenge #76 - Color inspiration

The challenge #76 this fortnight at DS4J is “Color inspiration  “

This month the  DS4J DT member who is sponsoring the challenge is Margaret Gilmer

The photo to inspire you is this

The image I used is Ashleigh

Nothing much to say about the card except that the flower was made using a clover template.
And image was colored with twinkling H20. That is why it is shiny (sparkly) and the brush strokes show a bit and look so watercolory instead of crisp like when colored with copics. Need to explore this medium more. The ovals are die cut  and used a lace punch (MS)

3-D Birdcage and Matching Card

Hello everyone, it's  Danita from danitasdesigns.blogsot.com, posting today for The Bugbytes.

For the last few weeks, I have really felt like I was in a crafting slump, so I decided to challenge myself with a 3-D project.  I chose a birdcage from the Silhouette America online store. The designer is Rivka Wilkins and you can get the construction details here. It was a bit challenging but I must admit, I enjoyed it and I hope you like it. 3-D Birdcage and matching card: All blinged out!!

Close up of the Bird Cage
Close up of the card, this bird cage is also in the Silhouette store. The "For You" was cut using the Invitation Font

This is one of the images called Misteri's New Shoes

She is colored with Copics.

A Card and a Box

Hi Everyone,

Lisa from Lisa's Craft Room here to share a card and a box I made for a friend's birthday. Thank you Pam for having me. I hope you are feeling lots better. Well, I must say it has been a very hot and busy summer, but boy did it fly by. Even though it is September, we are still getting warm temperatures and that's fine with me because I'm really not ready to be cold yet. Maybe just a little cool :)

For the card I used the new die set from Emma (My Creative Time) called Stitched Party Dies. The balloons and the banner are so cute. For the little box, which I will be putting a gift card inside, it fit's perfectly, I used the little stamp set Birthday Buddies, also from Emma.

For the box you start off with a piece of card stock that measures 5 1/2" x 8". You score one side at 1,
3 1/2, 4 1/2 and 7, you turn it and score at 1 and 4 1/2. You fold all the score lines, then cut each side only up to the score lines. You put adhesive on each of those tabs and fold the box up. You can find a video at www.mychicnscratch.com with Angie. She makes the cutest bags and boxes. It's sometimes hard to show in pictures, that's why it's nice to watch a video. I'm sorry that I didn't show more pictures, I just didn't have the time, but I will get better :)

Well, that's my project for this month. Thanks for stopping by. See you soon. Have a wonderful weekend.

Explore in Steampunk style

Sassy Studios has monthly challenge at  http://www.papercraftplanet.com/group/sassystudiodesigns/forum/topics/monthly-progressive-challenge-4-aug-15-sept-14th
You can request the image of the month there and make a project using the image
Here is my take with the image

The card base is kraft CS and some of the elements are from a free digital kit http://scrapsdimensions-dorisnilsa.blogspot.com/2010/09/steampunk-mania.html

the explore is using circus font and the other embellishments are stamped charms. The gold flowers are bead caps which I flattened.I colored the image using distress markers and the silver is using sakura pen.
The background paper I used the kit paper but stamped it with papertrey ink stamp - World Map and Destination.

Halloween Decor

I know I am a wee bit early for Halloween, but Halloween is my very favorite holiday!!  I love to decorate - well everything Halloween!!!

Lori here from Scrappin My Stress Away.  Today I am excited and honored to be featured at The Bug Bytes!!!

I found these 8x8 metal tiles at Michaels in the Dollar Bin for $2.  They were 40% off and I was prepared to sand and paint over them.  To my great surprise, the design was a sticker that was super easy to remove!!!  I went back and picked up a couple more...well maybe more than a couple!!

I designed this myself on my Cameo.  I saw something similar on Pinterest, but I downloaded the font and stretched an image from the Silhouette store.  I always feel like I am cheating using someone else's designs from the Silhouette store as I love creating my own things.  I am just not as savvy yet on the cameo as I am on the Gypsy!!

I cut out my design in vinyl (for some reason I have a TON of lavender vinyl) using the vinyl settings on my cameo.  I also keep a separate blade for vinyl set to 2.  My cardstock blade is set to 3.  This extends the life of my vinyl blade.

After burnishing the vinyl, I peeled it up using transfer tape.

I did not take enough pictures of each project so excuse me as I jump back and forth with designs to keep the tutorial making sense.  My second project was made using an image I purchased from the Silhouette store (above) and I cut it in Square 1 Masterpiece (instead of vinyl this time but used the same settings and blade).

So, after burnishing and getting the vinyl (or square 1) on the transfer tape, I burnished it down onto the metal tile.

I painted over the vinyl with white acrylic paint.  I painted 2 light coats.  I wanted a streaky chalkboard look.

I peeled the square 1...

and vinyl off the metal.

I painted a bit of black on the edges.

I added some black dots to give movement to the witch.

I spray sealed them so the paint would not chip off and they are ready to go!!

Thanks Pam for having me over today!!!   I hope you have a wonderful fall!!!
