Happy Birthday, Lil' Sis!

Hello everyone!  This is Melody from A Splash Here and There blog.  Thanks, Pam for letting me share my project with your readers once again.  Today's project is a birthday card I created for my younger sister who recently had her 42nd birthday.  This is a roughly 5 1/2 x 5 inches cake-shaped card, designed using the Silhouette Studio and cut with my Cameo.

This is how the pieces looked like after cutting and before assembly.

The cake card cutout (brown) and the insert (pink) are by Daniela Angelova, purchased from Silhouette Store (Design ID #38894).  It originally came with a flower cutout but I replaced that with the butterfly by Hero Arts (Design ID #37857).  I created a bottom layer for the butterfly using the offset feature.  I created the innermost layer (in white) using the internal offset feature on the insert (again, in pink) layer of Daniela's design and typed my sentiment using the Abbeyline font and flood-filled that in blue.  I also let my Cameo do the faux stitching, flood-filled in pink.

Here's a shot of the inside of the card after assembly.

I used some foam mounts on the butterfly and added some irock gems to embellish the outside.  I also added some peach lacy ribbon to separate the layers of the cake.

The envelope I used is by Lori Whitlock (Design ID #29070).  I couldn't resist using up some of the perfectly cut diamonds from the cake image so I used some to decorate the outside of the envelope - minimizes waste, I'd say ;)

Thanks for looking and commenting!  Until next month  ;)
