Dare To Be Sassy Thursday - Paper Piecing

Hi Everyone

Michelle here from Lady of Leisure Ink, thanks Pam for having me.  I am also guest designer over at Sassy Studio Designs, where it is Dare To Be Sassy Thursday Challenge - the theme this week is Paper Piecing.  I took the image of  Katniss the Sassy on fire because I love all the flounces on the bottom of her dress - perfect for paper piecing.

The paper I used is actually Adhesive Fabric Paper from DCWV, and although I love the texture (it was perfect for this dress) it was a pain in the butt to adhere properly because it stretches!!!  Here is a closer look.

The image is coloured with my ProMarkers, and the sentiment is a stamp from an SU set called 'Word Play'.  I finished it off with by adhering some dyed seam binding  (which was a gift from a friend) around the edge.

This is how I finished off the back of the bag, which incidentally is a recycled Sephora bag - I am loving giving these recycled bags and boxes a face-lift.

Thanks for stopping by today, and I hope you will check out all the fabulous creations by the design team over at Sassy Studio.

Michelle

It's a Fiesta and the colors are Bright

The taco truck is coming and the decorations and cupcakes are ready. Hi I am Linda from TheTulipCollector and I am the guest designer today. I hope you enjoy all the goodies.

To make it easier for the guests, I made little utensil packets. I used the Little Decorative Tri-Fold card from MyCreativeTime, stapled 2 together to make a pocket and just didn't fold it! The paper was double sided so that made coordinating easier. I did fold back the little flap so you could see what is inside. Inside is a napkin and the utensils. The little flower is cut from MyCreativeTime Round and Scallopped Stiched Circles.
I put these in cute teapot baskets. The colorful paper goods were from Dollar Tree.

For the tables I made paper flowers on sticks and stuck them in these cute little clay flowerpots. The paper bow is from Artiste and held together with a brad.

For dessert I made these Pinterest inspired cupcakes in plastic cups. These were a hit and perfect for bake sales, birthday parties and picnics. All kept fresh in plastic cups with plastic and ribbon. Most everyone was stuffed after the taco truck so it was great to just send them home.

Celebrating Easter - ds4j challenge #63

Hi
This week's challenge back at DS4J

THEME : 'Celebrating Easter'. This is open to your interpretation om how you celebrate Easter time, whether it is collecting eggs in the garden, chasing the bunnies, or a Christian connection.
For this you need to … Create a papercraft project or card to fit the theme.
Do make a project and link it back at DS4J
The DT has some fantastic project from which you can draw inspiration
Here is my project for this challenge. I have used the cute cute image called Bunny Knocks.
I made it into a shape card

I did print it twice and cut out just the window so that I could leave the window open :)
I wanted all candy colors so for the blue I used BG1 (family) and for that candy red I used the R2 family in copics and yellows - Y1 family and maybe a darker orange for the contrast.
The inside of the card

The border is from silhouette store
Now do link up your project at DS4J
I do want to enter this card in some challenges

Dome Birthday Card

Hello, It's Danita from danitasdesigns.blogspot.com. My project this month is a acetate dome birthday card.  I picked up a 3 pack of domes and cards from the Heirloom Stamp Show that was here in Georgia in February and decided it was time for me to try to make one.

 Inside card

Close up of front. Notice I blinged out her jewelry!

Materials Used: Graphic 45 "All That Jazz"
                           Hampton Art Jazz Stamp
                           Recollections stickers and rhinestones
                           ATG
                           Gold Stickles

This is my first time using Graphic 45 paper. Really, I always thought it was weird looking and basically just ugly! I had a change of heart after my friend, Helen, decided to post that the Tuesday Morning stores were selling the usually $25.00 - $35.00 paper packs for $3.99!! For some reason I can't seem to turn away from a deal. Okay, so Helen is in Oklahoma, I am in Georgia so I went out on the hunt for her for the "Once upon a Sprintime" Collection. Well I couldn't just buy her some, now could I?  Then she had the nerve to tell me about her sets of Graphic 45 themed paper!! So you know I had to get me some more. I don't have sets, but I did manage to get some different packs.  I googled it and found quite a few very pretty cards, boxes and layouts. Now I'm hooked!!  It's very good cardstock too, weighty.
Here's how I made the card:

Dome and card base
The card comes embossed and sized to fit the dome

I did not want to use the white card base so I used it as a template to create my base in a cream color cardstock.

Next I cut out an image I liked from the cardstock and used the template to cut out an oval shape base for the image.

Using my Cameo I cut out the frame, lettering and backing in black for the card. I glued the patterned oval to a solid black oval and popped up the couple with pop dots to make them stand out. Then, of course, I blinged out her jewelry using stickles. Once you have embellished your image, you will seal it into the dome.  I used my ATG gun. It should look like this: (see below)
I cut out another card in a lighter weight cardstock for the inside, stamped and embellished it. Here's the stamp I used.  It coordinates with the Graphic 45 paper I used.

Thanks for looking!!!

Bloom time

Spring time is here and bloom time will be soon . Flowers are already budding outside my house.
And this new release at DS4J this weekend has some lovely images so apt for this season. This 3d flower set is so fun to play with.
Here is a card I made this lovely image

The border and vase are from silhouette online. The main background is using MS ornate square punch. I added pearls and diamond stickles to the flower and vase.
I have stamped the inside yet.

Silhouette tip - Moving the center away from an object

You can move the center of an object away from and it and make it an axis point
The centre of the object is still the same but now you have created a new axis point so in case you want to rotate now the object will rotate around the new axis point ie the line from new axis point to the object acts as radius.
Hopefully the images will explain better
You can move the center of an object away from it (image 1) .
Image 1

That way if you want to rotate it etc the moved center will act as an axis point(image 2).
image 2

This is very helpful to create your own designs. For eg I used this to rotate around a circle (using ctrl c to copy and Ctlf F to paste in place) and made the  shape (image 3)

image 3

Now you can see the possibilities.
