Recycling Gift Boxes....

Hello, everyone! Jeannie here from Nonnasscraps. I am so excited to be visiting here today! Thanks for the chance to share.

I have one of those bracelets that can have beads added over time. Each bead comes in it's own box. What that means is that I have a lot of boxes! But this Christmas, these boxes took on a new life....

It is a sturdy little box. The black band attaches to the back with a magnet, that keeping the box closed. It is just about gift card size and perfect for the small square iTunes cards.

A box
Lettering Delights papers: Bavarian Christmas
Cut as follows:
1 mat to fit the top of the box (4 x 3")
1  paper 1/4" smaller than the box top: (2.25 x 3.75")
1 oval mat: (3 x 1.75")
1 oval 1/4" small than mat: (2.75 x 1.5")
1 figure: Father Christmas (2.7" tall---to fit oval)
Small mat oval for tag: (1.5 x 1")
Small oval for name: (1 1/3 x .75")
assorted glues
Stickles in assorted colors
  • Unlatch the band from the box. This leaves the top of the box a clean pallette.
  • Layer the cuts as indicated in the photo:

  • Add embellishments as desired

Love these! The young women that received cards in these boxes were as thrilled with the boxes as they were with the gift cards! Don't throw away those left over boxes---recycle them to something better!

Happy New Year!

Lighted Glass Block

Hey Everyone,
LisaB from Rather B Scrappin

This month I wanted to share an easy project. I did a Christmas design but you can use this for a birthday party or even a nightlight for your children.

Start with a glass block. I got mine at Hobby Lobby. This is the small of the 2 they sale.

I used Armour Etch to give the glass a frosted look. I etched both sides.

Not sure if this picture does it justice but it has a nice frosted look

I then cut out my saying with vinyl. I peeled off the top layer, leaving the saying on the backing.

I use contact paper as my transfer tape to add it to the glass block.

I put small mini lights in the bottom of the glass block.

Here it is all lit up.

I tried to get a good picture with it the lights off

I hope I was able to inspire you today! Thanks for stopping by and checking out the Bugbytes
Until next time!

Elegant Silhouette Card

Hi Everyone

Michelle here from Lady of Leisure Ink, as always Pam thank you so much for having me here.  I want to share a special 'one off' Christmas card for a good friend of mine, she also happens to be the breeder of my dog and you will soon see why it is a 'one off' card.

I am in love with silhouettes, especially all the Christmas ones that have been appearing in the Silhouette online store.  This week I bought the silhouette of the lady carrying parcels and walking her dog.  I knew that my friend would love it too, but I wanted to make it personal and change the dog silhouette to that of my own breed (which happens to be a vizsla.)  Here is my card.

I just love how elegant these silhouettes look, and I especially love the little details like the buttons on the coat, and the ribbons on the back of her hat.

Of course what make it extra special for both my friend and me is the vizsla.

I used the Cameo to cut out the letters for my sentiment, the font is called Tall Deco.  A little tip here: I used the negative to help me position the letters, made it so simple.

A simple card with an elegant colour scheme of black, white, burgundy and silver - I hope she loves it as much as I do.

Thanks for stopping by today.

There's something magical about Christmas - DS4J Challenge #57

Hi
This is Pam and we have a challenge back at DS4J

Challenge #57 -THEME : 'Christmas Fantasy ... There's something magical about Christmas'

Yes there is something Magical about Christmas isn't there?
I decided to do a card in simple clean style. Hope I did have some success with it as this is outside my comfort zone. My style is more organic (ha ha ha)

The pattern paper is from dcwv stack
The poinsettia were cut using spellbinder die and then the edges dipped in versamark and then heat embossed. I also used dipped a perfect medium pen in versamark and drew some veins on leaf and petals and heat embossed
The digi image is Poinsettia candles from DS4J shop and colored with copics.
I liked the way my shadow coloring turned out. Remembered what Colleen Schaan taught us :). Love the way she teaches.
Some pearls and gold ribbon embellishment and there you have a simple card.

Now go and make a project and head on over to DS4J and post your project in the linky there. Aren't challenges so fun?

I am entering mine in some too :)

Cheery Snowman Card

Hello my name is Danita and I am a new member of the Bug Bytes Design Team.  I will be posting my creations on the third Monday of each month. I am looking forward to having a lot of fun and  sharing my ideas with you. Please stop by and visit my blog at: http://danitasdesigns.blogspot.com/

Here's my project for this month. I hope you like it.

This is a quick and easy card made with my Silhouette Cameo surely to brighten someone's day.

I got this snowman image from Deb's Ooodles of Doodles coloring pages, then traced it in my Silhouette Designer Software. I always draw a square or circle the size of the card I'm working on so I can get a true picture of how things are going to look. In this case 5.5 x 8.5.

I like to use the "negatives" of cuts to create a different look. Once you get your images weeded out, get out your trusted Zig glue pen.  I love this glue because when it wet it's permanent and when it's dry it's re-positional and it has a narrow point, just right for this size project.

Next, get your card ready. For this project I'm using an 8.5 x 11 sheet folded in half. I like to use shimmer cardstock. I love how it looks and feels. I also used white glitter cardstock to create the "snow" at the bottom of the card.
After I glued down the images I decided to add some dimension to the snowman by popping up his  hands and feet with pop dots. Now everyone who knows me, knows I can't complete a project without some bling somewhere!

So, get out the bling and finish off the project in style!!
