Onesie baby shower invitation

Good morning!   I hope everyone is enjoying their long holiday weekend, this is Kimberli from Kimberli's Creations with a fun post for you today!

My best friend asked me to make the invitations for her sister's baby shower this summer, we talked about a lot of different ideas and this is what I came up with!  She won't know next week what sex the baby is, my guess is girl-not sure why, but that's what my gut says ;-), so I opted to make a girl invitation as a mock one until we know for sure!

First, I welded together a couple of onesies from B is for Boy lite Cricut cart, using my Gypsy, then cut another one separate to use as the front...

Here they are cut...I apologize in advance for the poor lighting in my pictures, its currently 11:30p here, so no natural light to work with but the middle of the night is my only time to scrap these days!

The card base...

The front that will be adhered to the base...I used a stack from K&Company, Itsy Bitsy Baby Girl, for the patterned paper and some pink cardstock from my stash for the card base.

Then I used pale yellow/white twine from The Twinery, tied a bow and attached the patterned paper to the card base.  

I wasn't sure where to stamp the sentiment, so I decided to use the oval that was cut from the middle of welding the card base together, stamp the sentiment on it and attach it to the front - talk about using everything and having little waste!  :-)  

The duck I cut also using B is for Boy cricut cart and I inked everything using my chalk inks from Quick Quotes.  

The sentiment stamps I used, inside and out, are from My Pink Stamper 'Sweet Baby' set.

I'm still not sure I like the inside, I need to talk to my friend and see what she thinks - but I may add a piece of patterned paper in there somehow and stamp on that, instead of directly on the card base, but here's what I did for now...

Here's the outside all put together, I love how it came together - I hope my friend likes it as much as I do!

Hunger Games Board

Last month I showed you guys a key chain I made for the Hunger Games. Well I was searching online for Hunger Game Party Ideas for a friend who is putting together the party for her daughter. I cam across this blanket and thought I could do this in a poster style.

I used both the Cricut and the Cameo to come up with my own style of this blanket. I love how it turned out. 

Every day is a gift

As I was walking along the lake nearby I came across a ring of mushrooms. Somehow I have  always been fascinated by mushrooms. The umbrella like tops and the soft soft rings underneath. Nature is a wonder isn't it? And everyday is a gift!
So I decided to color up a mushroom image and make a card.

This is a digi stamp from Make it Crafty.  They do have some wonderful images.
The beautiful sentiment is from paper trey ink (I think from the buttons collection or tag collection I am not sure). It is the perfect sentiment to recapture that  moment.
The tag itself is cut using a nestability. I just snipped off one end.
The mats for the card is recollections Kraft paper while all the papers  are from DCWV green stack (8 x 8 ) .
The card itself is 6.25x6.25 inches. I used a prima flower and stacked it up with  another acrylic flower to then finally added a red heart pearl for the center. The paper clip was from Walmart. I added a big white pearl heart to it.
And of course I loved pulling out my new brother )Costco) sewing machine and adding a decorative stitch to the mushroom square. I added a small satin ribbon to the tag.
Maybe this will stay as a card or I might just add this whole thing as a panel in a scrapbook page. I might just have to go back to that part of the lake again with a camera!

Jump start on Father's Day

Hi Everyone,

Michelle here from Lady of Leisure Ink - thank you Pam for letting me come and play in your 'space'.  My project today was done to help me get a jump start on Father's Day, but could just as well be used for any occasion for one of the guys.

This project is cut with my Silhouette Cameo, and is from an SVG kit called "All About Dad" available from SVG Cuts.  The designer of these files gives great instructions for putting these projects together - they really were easy peasy :)

I love 'shaped' cards, and as soon as I got this file knew I had to make this card.  One of the things I did to this file was run the vest through my Sizzix machine with an embossing folder.  This folder is made by Stampin' Up and is called 'Square Lattice'.  This is where I had a 'happy accident' - I didn't put the vest all the way into the folder and so the bottom piece did not get embossed.  So I decided to use my scoring board and bone folder to make the bottom look like a 'knitted rib' effect.

Next came the tie-shaped box, it came together really quickly and would be a fun holder for some candy/nuts or maybe a cigar.

I finished off with some matching envelopes, and my project is ready to go.

So I hope I have given you a little inspiration today for a 'manly project', or a jump start on Father's Day. Until next time.

Good morning and Happy Wednesday! This is Beatriz from Amazing Grace and it's my turn again to design for The Bug Bytes. I just got a new cricut cartridge called Over the hill and had to use it right away.  I made a birthday layout and used papers from the pretty Vintage Marketplace Collection from BBP.

Here is the recipe:
"Aged to perfection" is on page 21, size 4"
"Happy Birthday" is on page 20 , size 3"
"Cake" is on page 15, size 5"
I stickled, outlined some of the letters, added some flowers and voila!

Teacher Thank You Cards

It is that time of the school year again to say thanks to our teachers!!

Lori here from ScrappinMyStressAway and I am so excited to be here on The Bug Bytes today!  

I dusted off my Cricut Imagine and created a couple of cards.

I started out with Imagine More Cards and found Thanks a latte for the art teacher who loves coffee and has let me volunteer in kindergarten art this year!  I found Un-FROG-gettable for Tanner's teacher who had a class full of bug and frog loving boys!

I used this new tape from Recollections to create a background for my latte card.  This is like tissue paper tape and it comes three different rolls to a pack.  It is fun and easy to work with.  I just trimmed off the edges.

I pop-dotted my images on the card bases I made to fit the images.  I used an orange cardstock to mat my frog image.  I added some stickles and some Glossy Accents (to the coffee cup) to add a little sparkle.

Not only am I grateful for my son's teachers, but I am also grateful for Pam for letting me Guest Design on her blog once a month!!!

Good Morning, Today I'm sharing with you a card I made with a SimplyB stamp. It's the first time I've coloured hair blue.

I chose grungy paper as I thought that's the type of feel she had.

I printed the sentiment on my computer.

And punched it out with a SU punch.

First I opened the files in my Silhouette  Software and arranged them the way I wanted to.

Then Cut them out on double sided paper.

Glued the suitcase together.

Decorated with marker and stickles.

Then I glued the file and sentiment to the suitcase.

Mama and Baby Bird Mother's Day card

Hello everyone! I'm so glad to be back here at the Bugbytes to post a project.  With Mother's Day approaching I had to dedicate my crafting time to making cards for the special mothers in my life. I've made several different Mother's Day cards and have decided to post this one I made for my niece. This will be her first Mother's Day and I wanted to make her a special card. If you would like to see my other Mother's Day cards, please check my blog this week to see a new card I am posting daily.

I love my Cameo and the images I can buy from the Silhouette store. I was very excited to find card bases featuring shapes with swing out "doors". They remind me of some dies I purchased from Stampin up a few months ago to make small windows. The beauty of the Silhouette images is that they can be resized  to use as actual card bases, or decorative elements for other projects. The 5 die set from Stampin Up cost about $25.95. With my Silhouette store subscription (that I purchased with a 25% off coupon) those same five shapes cost me about .50. That just blows my mind!

I started with the round rectangle card base:

I added two Echo Park Bird shapes I purchased from the Silhouette Store. I manipulated them so the wings were faced outward, so I could position the Mama bird and Baby bird as if they were reaching out to each other.  I also copied the wings and made shadow blackouts, as the original shapes were just outlines. The Cameo makes manipulating shapes so easy, the possibilities are endless.

Behind the front flap is a sentiment also purchased from the Silhouette store.

I did not make this card as recommended, which is to glue the front to the back and have just the flap open up for the sentiment. Instead, I left the front and back of the card open and added mats that I made by resizing the card base to suit my needs. This allowed me to add a personal note inside the card in addition to the "Mom's are Special" phrase.

Materials used: All solid and patterned cardstock from the My Reflections Paper kit (Close to My Heart); Stamps: "love" (Studio G); hearts  (Stampin Up); Ink: Soft Suede and Baja Blue (Stampin Up); Stickles: Black Diamonds (Ranger). Stampin Dimensional adhesives used to pop the wings.

1st Mother's Day

Good Morning!

This is Jen from 3 Cats and a Bug. I am so excited today is my day to post here at The Bugbytes!

I decided to make a two page layout for Bentlee's Mom for her first Mother's Day. I used several different cartridges for this layout. I wanted to use the floral circle from Mother's Day 2010 cartridge, so I started with that cut @ 11.5. I cut it in 3 different layers using my gypsy. The bottom layer was in green and I used the hide contour to hide the small flowers around the edge. The second layer was blue, which I left alone. The top layer I hid all the lines except for the flowers, which I cut from yellow, green and blue patterned paper. I wanted the circle on both pages, so once I figured out where, I cut it in two.

I saved the leftover from those cuts.

I used my Viva Decor Pearl Pen and added purple dots around the edge. I added some flower gems to the larger flower cut outs and smaller pearl dots to the small flowers.

The next thing I needed was a frame for the picture. I used a frame from Mother's Day 2010, cut @ 6.8 and hid the inside cut. From lacy labels I took the butterfly oval, cut @ 4 and welded it into the MD frame. I also cut the same oval to layer on the frame in a darker blue.

I added the picture to the frame, adjusting it how I wanted it to sit, and then flipped it over and taped the picture down. (The picture is of the new family, my Son, his GF and my 1st brand new Grandson. Bentlee was about 1 hour old. Such an awesome day!!)

I love decorating my cuts. To the layer on the frame I added "stitching" with a white gel pen. I used some Stickles to the butterfly and when that dried I added glossy accents, although it really doesn't show up well in the picture. I used 4 of the bigger flowers from the circle leftovers and added green brads to it. I inked the edges of the frame in blue chaulk.

I cut out "Happy Mother's Day" from Mother's Day 2010 @ 5.

I used my white gel pen to decorate it.

I cut out an image of Mom and child from A Child's Year @ 6. I will admit I messed them up when laying everything out to cut. I had meant for the dark blue to be the shadow. When I realized what I did, I put them together anyways and actually liked how they looked, so I didn't fix it. :)

I cut out the purple swirls from Lovely Floral @ 3. I added pink liquid pearls to the flowers.
