Valentine Wall Decor

I ended up not using any of the Ribbon, so this wall decor costed me $5

Isn't that monkey so cute??? The novelty debt card is also super cute!!!

Creating a Shaped Card with Spellbinder Nestabilities

Hi ya everyone! This is Melissa from Melissa Made! Thanks Pam for allowing me to share today.  I have an easy tutorial on how to create shaped cards like the one above using a die-cut such as the Spellbinder Nestabilities.  I created a video below.  I also made an adorable circle card using the same technique, a Tiddly Inks digital stamp, and Card Patterns sketch.

For those that don't like videos.  Simply take a folded piece of paper and attach the die above the fold and tape before cutting in you machine.  Here is the other card I created using this technique.

Valentine's Day Treat Box

Hi scrappers! This is Kate from Sassy and Scrappy and I have a fun, boy-themed Valentine project to share with you today.

I found this milk carton in the Silhouette store and thought it would be perfect to fill with goodies for my nephew.

I stretched the image to fill the mat, when standing the box is just over 7 inches.


I decided to ink around the edges of the box. One thing I like about the Silhouette Cameo over the Cricut is that the perforations aren't as visible, so the addition of the ink enhances the box as opposed to using it to cover up unsightly cut lines.


I used a Martha Stewart punch to create an embellishment around the box.




The paper that I colored my stamped image on is a bright white, which doesn't fit with the vintage looking paper I chose, so I spritzed over it and inked the edges.


In the picture below you can see how the spray mist changed the color of the paper, it also adds the appearance of texture.


A close-up of the top of the box. The Silhouette cuts out the holes, so all I had to do was string my ribbon through and tie it closed.


In this picture you can see the colored and stamped image a little closer. I thought the robot was the perfect addition for a boy-themed Valentine.

Valentines Envelope Mini

Hi Everyone, Beth here from thunderbirdlindybydesign.  Today I wanted to share with you a mini album I made out of envelopes.  Supplies you will need will be 6 a2 envelopes, cardstock, any embellishements you want to add, I used K&Co valentine die cuts, my E2, and my Gypsy, and ribbon.  Start with the first envelope and leave the flap unsealed.  Cut a 4.5"x5" piece of cardstock and adhere to first envelope, under the flap.

Then using Victorian Romance Cartridge, I cut the heart and it's layer at approx 3 3/8".  I added that to the flap.  I also cut Be Mine for the Martha Stewart Seasonal cake and added to the top of the heart.

For the other 5 envelopes, I sealed the flap, and then cut a small strip off of one side.  This creates a pocket on the other 5 envelopes.  I then cut 11 remaining pieces of cardstock, 4 x 5.5" and attached them to the back of the first envelope, and the front and back of the remaining 5 envelopes.

On each page I pop dotted the K&Co. die cuts.  For 3 of the pockets, I cut  from Sophie cart 2 doilies at 5.10" tall, and from Mother's Day 2010, I cut another doily at 5.10" tall.  I then hid contours on all the doilies except for the main cut around the outside, so I would have something to adhere the doilies to, to make them more stable.

Here is the finished album.  When all the pages were done, I bound it using a Bind It All, and added ribbon to the cover.

It's pretty simple, I left it that way because I am not sure what pics I want to use on the opposite pages.

This is Pam from Papillon Digital Designs. Thanks Carolyn and Allison for having me on today.
Today's project challenge is doing "Something New/Something inspiring"
I love the above quote as it is especially apt today as not only am I doing a Layout which is not in my comfort zone but my layout subject is Mine - Independence Mine - Alaska.
My layout is an interactive-spinner layout.  I was inspired by hot of the press spinner template. But I did not like the heart and oval shapes that came with. So decided to use cameo for making my own.
Here is the layout

Now I will be garrulous and try to explain both how and why I chose to do what I did as I go along.
First thing I did was make a silhouette file

The white spinner wheel is cut as a template so that you can put a brad and then turn it to mark the frame for the photos on the actual spinner wheel. The frame on the spinner is 1/4 " lesser than the opening on the layout to give it a mat effect ( I used 3x2 photos so the opening on top is 3-1/4" x 2 -1/4". Now these pictures will maybe show what I am talking about better.

So after you come to this stage just attach a foam to the spinner. Make sure if you are using foam dots/pop dots to dust the outer side with powder so that it does not stick to the top of the layout for then it will not spin. Then using a brad assemble the layout.

Now my choice of papers. Since the pictures were more of blues I decided to use a red orange pattern to give a contrast to the pictures. I also decided that the plaid design will kind of give a solid feeling as the subject matter is a Mine. That's why I did not round the corners too. But I needed some curves though not dominant but as an accent. So I decided to make a kind of mountain pattern on another pattern paper. Now for the embellishments. I took some of the pictures itself and traced it on silhouette studio and cropped it and did a print and cut. I also took some gold coin and silver bar images from online and did the same. I did not find a gold dust bottle souvenir image so decided to make my own using some circles and rounded square. After cutting them out with cameo then for the first time I took out my yourstory and then using a scotch hot  laminating sheet from walmart  - laminated all the cut outs. Gives it a nice sticker effect as I did not want to use glossy accents. Then I tool perfect pearls and with some water (for setting the perfect pearls) and brush applied some gold copper and silver color to get a nice shine in some areas. They look lovely at an angle. I also cut some trees and stickled the tree and the title. Then I used a Martha Stewart triangle punch (which I had got from walmart way back) for border and then attached a gold ribbon (Costco) to it. Some metal flowers and leaves and suede leather bows completed the rest . Here is a closer look at the layout. I still have to fill in the journaling on the white strips

The interactive part when you spin the wheel (of course you have to cut  a slit in the page protector so that you can spin and maybe also add an arrow and words spin so that the viewer can spin it to see the rest)

So today's challenge on do something new is to do a card or layout which is interactive - be it a spinner like this or an  accordion fold or a hidden tag. One good resource other than the web of course is the Book - Magic by Jeanette Lynton.

Introducing Cricut Couple...

Hey Ya'll,

Well, today is a very exciting day.  Bobby here from Cricut Couple.  Pam has graciously invited me to design with her amazing team!  I hope ya'll love what I bring over each month!  So... Today, I have a card to share with you that is pretty "Girly".  Hee! Hee!  I have a book by Anna Griffin that shows a beautiful scrapbook pages with a lovely umbrella.  I thought I would give it a try on a card!

 This was quite a challenge to find the right shapes on the Gypsy.  It took over an hour to find what I wanted, so below are the cartridges I used to pull off this design.  I will have the Gypsy file available for you to download at the bottom of the post because there was some creative shaping and welding that went into this design.

 I also used the Imagine for this card.  I just love the prints available on the Blossom cartridge and that is what I used for this card.  Each of these papers come from it.  I wanted to use the expression to cut everything, so I just used the Imagine to print the papers.  You could use this file in CCR is you wanted to and then flood fill the shapes.  So far, I am not that big on CCR, so we will leave that alone for now.  Hee! Hee!

 You can see on the paper that I printed, that I didn't print edge to edge.  I really didn't need to.  I just set the machine for print only and flood filled the square shape that is included with the machine.  This way, it doesn't make a mess out of the mat.

 You can see here how I came up with the patterns for the umbrella.  I welded the shapes together at the bottom so that I had a base to work with.  Then the top shapes use different patterns so that you have contrast between the sections of the umbrella.  The "J" is from Botanicals and was stretched to make the handle for the umbrella.

 Above is how I loaded the mat with the printed papers for the above cut.

 This is what all of your shapes look like when cut.  I also used the green for leaves for the flower arranging with the card.

 Take one of your welded pieces and add the colorful layers to it.  On the other piece, I used 3D adhesive in the middle and then used ATG tape on the outer edge to give it a curve when it's added to the card.

 Then flip it all over and do the same again, but not as much 3D adhesive in the center and bring it more to the center.  ATG again on the outer edge.  When it's all added, it gives you a more realistic look

 You can see here how I added the mats to the card base, then added a doily.  You can see here how the curve happens when you add the umbrella.

 The second layer on the Gypsy file is rose flowers from the CTMH cartridge.

 Finally, I cut a couple of label shapes to add the sentiment to the bottom.  I used stamps from My Craft Spot called Friends and Neighbors for the Sentiments.  Stamp and pop all of your sentiment layers for the front, tie a couple of basic ribbons and include a couple of silk flowers here and there and VOILA!  You have a very cute umbrella card!

 I put this one together for a dear friend who has been having a rough time.  The Friends and Neighbors stamp set was perfect for the cheer greeting in this card.

 The inside was kept very simple so that I had room to write a little more.  I inked everything with this card with an Orchid colored ink.  I also used the same color for the stamping.

I added some stickles to the edges between cuts on the umbrella and on the border of the label shape on the front.  You could use whatever type of silk flowers you have.  These are from mini bouquets that I have had in the craft room for years!  Hee! Hee!
