Be A Wall Layout

Hello ~ this is Lori from ScrappinMyStressAway and I am so happy to be a Guest Designer today at TheBugBytes!! 

My son plays high school baseball and is a catcher.  I spend many spring and summer days cheering him on, and one of my favorite cheers is "Be A Wall!!"  When I got the Batman cartridge and saw this brick wall, I knew I had to use it in a layout!  I used my cricut markers, cri-kit pens, paper and ink to make this page.

I put the brick wall on the screen at 11.66w x 8.82h as I wanted it to be a background for my pictures. I moved it to the bottom of the mat. 

I opened a Layer 2 and put the words BE A WALL on the top of the page sized at 1.82h. I welded them together.  The font is also on the Batman cartridge.

I put my Cri-Kits pen holder in my Cricut and put in a red pen.

 

I loaded a piece of white cardstock and told my Gypsy to "cut" the brick wall.

Next I put in a black Cricut Marker. I put the same paper in the cricut, but switced my Gypsy to Layer 2 and drew on the title. I wanted a black shadow for the letters, and I also wanted to add some dimension to my layout.

I took three ink colors, red, brick red and vintage and started inking the bricks. I used some scrap paper to mask out the outer edges of the wall so I could keep the brick color on the bricks. I used make up sponges to ink the paper.

I grabbed my Gypsy and cut out Layer 1 using a gray piece of card stock for the mortar.

It was too clean so....

I inked it up a bit with my Vintage ink.

I used pop dots to raise up the letters and give a little dimension to my page.

I like how it turned out!

Here is my paper, but it is missing something...

I found these Fashion Caps at Michaels.  Tyler's team colors are black, blue and white so I grabbed the black ones.

I cut out a blue circle from the leftover blue cardstock and clipped off the legs of a baseball brad and made this embellishment.  I tied a knot of hemp cord through the hole in the bottle cap.

I added more hemp cord and baseball brads and these two pictures.  I put a little dirt on the paper with my Vintage ink.  I ended up using pictures from his baseball camp in Arizona last December, but the red shirts matched the brick!
