Hi, it's Sheila from Shes A Sassy Lady and I have a GREAT card to share with you. I have to admit that I have been admiring it for a long time and finally decided to make it. You see my friend Melissa at Melissa Made created this card with a smiley face and ran it on her blog and Shes A Sassy Lady in November and I just loved it. So when my date came for Pam's wonderful blog I went straight to my Gypsy where I had already designed the card and started looking for paper. You see when you read this I will be in LasVegas on vacation. My schedule was so tight with getting everything ready that I needed something sure fire as I couldn't take the chance of disappointing Pam. And I might add I had to do it up right for Melissa's sake too!
I started out with these colors, and blew the cut. Let me tell you we are such creatures of habit I placed the paper on the mat not even thinking. I just automatically cut my paper 6 inches wide when ever I cut a card. There I stood with my mouth hanging open in disbelief when the cut ran off the paper.... what was I thinking? I am making a 5x7 inch card. Well I went scurrying as my time was limited and grabbed what Melissa suggested and stayed with the DCWV Sweet stack and just grabbed those papers that matched. It was great. You see ladies I work and only had from 8:45am to 10:00am to get this card cut and put together while taking photos. To add to the stress Pam was on the computer emailing as to what I was up to and Melissa was on chat asking the same. So I emailed Pam and apologized that I couldn't talk and as for Melissa, she gave me step by step directions through this card. If I wasn't living through it I would sear it was a comedy routine.
First I gathered together all my cuts and items I would use. I ran to the computer and Melissa assured me that I it would all be easy as soon as I got my spinner finished so I did that first.
Then I lined up my slider pieces and then used my ATG to put glue on. Next time I am going to use my Zip Dry glue as it allows a little time before drying and you can maneuver into position. I had to run upstairs to get the pink ink as I had white edges. Surely there was a camera on me as I had only 15 minutes left at this point! And I had to run for supplies! Pam is emailing at the same time telling me don't worry sweetie if you don't get done don't pressure yourself. How do you not get it done, all I could think of is she got the post done on my blog when her back was out, I knew I needed to complete this card.
Inked and good to go. Report to Melissa.... we got it, now on to the circle.
I used glue this time and it went together faster. See and I even inked the edges. Circle done.
Now I put the little butterfly together but didn't stickle or add glossy accents until later. I used Zots on the back and centered it on the circle.
Center the .50" pop dot circle in the center of the penny and make a little sandwich out of it.
See how nicely it fits on the rectangle. (Sorry I didn't have time to worry about photo quality too)!
I used plenty of pop dots so that it would be sturdy and the penny would slide easily. Now all I had to do was put the card together. So it was the base of the card, the heading, and the slider on a tilt. I made sure the penny was secure on the slider bar and then added the centered circle on the penny. So all I had left was glue the Happy Birthday on the inside and I was good to go! hard to believe that after my cutting disaster I was able to get this card together in 20 minutes and had never done one before! Wowsers I even took photos for you! I took the card to work and have added stickles now so I will make a little short video so you can see it works too. How fun is that?
I hope you enjoyed today's post and come and visit me at Shes A Sassy Lady from time to time as we have a new design each and every day just waiting for you to check out. Pam I can't thank you enough for having me here today as I always love to come and visit with all you and your wonderful followers. Thank you for your sweet, sweet word of encouragement.
